Publications
on CD and by Download
With
my publications, the vast majority of information is referenced
to medical, scientific and related publications. Traditional
use is incorporated when it is based on documented sources going
back hundreds to thousands of years. On the other hand, most
aromatherapy trade information only dates back around 50 years,
and much of it is appallingly inaccurate - see 'Articles Archive'
for more on that.
Please
note:
The download self contained .exe files will not work on Mac computers.
For
Macs there are the following options:
1.
A mailed CD with linked .html files, as well as 'Word'.
2. The .html version (copy disabled) can be emailed direct.
3. If the file is to big for email, it can be put on my web site
for you to download.
Due
to the lack of demand from UK customers, all CD and download files
are now only available in English USA-ize format. If a European
customer needs a printable A4 version in 'Word' these will be
retained for special requests.
Please
refer to terms of trading on the Ordering
page.

Essential Oil Monographs
Professional
version
By Martin Watt
This
information resource has been ten years in the making. It
is probably the most accurate collection of the properties
of 57 Essential Oils ever
published. I collated every piece of information of direct
relevance to the subject that I could lay my hands on. This
information is far superior to that obtainable from on-line
databases. The reason is because it is extracted from the
whole research papers and not just the on-line abstracts.
Reading the whole papers enabled me to:
| 1.
Determine if the research methods are faulty, or so
bad that the paper should not have been published. Those
who assume that the peer review systems used by scientific
publications stop such poor research being published
are living in cloud cuckoo land. |
| 2.
Determine what type of plant extract was used, i.e.
herbal water extract, distilled oil, or what. |
| 3.
Determine if the results are applicable to aromatherapy
and similar uses - often they are not. |
You
will not find a lot of information where therapeutic uses
or safety of an oil have been based entirely on their chemical
composition. Some chemicals are mentioned, but only where
sound references could be found on their relevance.
As
a qualified herbalist, this helped me to differentiate between
the therapeutic claims made in aromatherapy books based
entirely on herbal extracts, or on the essential oils from
the same plant.
For
people in the medical profession
a particularly useful feature is a microorganisms
cross-referencing system. This allows a particular organism
to be found in an A-Z index - the reference to the oil affecting
that organism can then be found in the monographs.
The
information provided in the monographs is sufficient to produce
advanced Material Safety Data Sheets as it includes CAS numbers,
flash points and C.H.I.P. recommendations.
The
'Word' version pages are packed with information mainly
in 12 point single spaced format. Some oils may only be
3 pages long because I could not find sound therapeutic
information on them. Others, such as Rosemary, are 15 pages
and almost a book in themselves.
If
you would like a sample monograph please ask.
